Naturism in Mallorca - nude bathing on dream beaches
The Balearic island of Mallorca is a mecca for water lovers and sun worshipers with over 180 sunny beaches and coves. Nudists can look forward to about a dozen Playas, where nude bathing is accepted.
No compulsion to strip off on Mallorca's beaches
Naturism is increasingly gaining popularity in Mallorca. What was once seen at best as an eccentric trend has long since become part of everyday life on the island. Meanwhile, there is hardly a region where nudists do not congregate in remote bays and indulge in au naturel bathing. Die-hard nudists are at pains to stress that there no rule requiring full nudity and those who don't wish to fully strip off can keep their underwear or swimwear on. The Mallorcan authorities allow nudism in certain spots providing that no bathers disturb the peace. About a dozen Bays in Mallorca in Mallorca are unofficially regarded as nudist areas.
Naturist coves in the south of Mallorca
In the south of Mallorca are some of the most popular naturist beaches. The first cove colonised by the nudists, lies on the Southwest Coast Mallorca and bears the name Cala Vells. Three small coves are surrounded by pine-clad rocks. Each one is a small bathing paradise. Between Sa Rapita and Colònia de Sant Jordi, the fine sandy Es Trenc on the south coast of Mallorca is the longest beach on the island. On several stretches of beach naturists cavort in front of the extensive dunes which have no hotel complexes behind them. South of the village of Colònia de Sant Jordi is the fine sandy beach of Es Cabo, where the dunes offer some secluded spots to get a tan. Mallorca's southernmost beach, Es Caragols is a perfect place to avoid some Mediterranean seclusion. It can only be reached after a strenuous walk or by water Taxi in Mallorca from Colònia de Sant Jordi.
Nude bathing on Mallorca's north and east coasts
Cala Ratjada on the northeast coast of Mallorca is a tourist hotspot on the North east coast Mallorca. Not far from the popular bay of Cala Agulla on the northeast coast of Mallorca is the nudist beach of Cala Molto with its famous turquoise waters. The coastline is largely undeveloped except for a ruined bunker from the Spanish Civil War and some wooden fishing huts. Cala des Marmols is a cove completely inaccessible apart from by boat and is hemmed in by bright marble rocks. The nudist beach with its light-coloured sand and lack of tourist facilities is a secluded dream beach.
The Bay of Alcudia is home to Playas de Muro a five-kilometre stretch of beach, which has developed into one of Mallorca's premier naturist hotspots. The dunes at Son Serra de Marina in the bay of Alcudia are a little off the beaten track. The long sandy beach is very popular with both nudists and Dog Beaches in Mallorca. Although dogs are not officially allowed on these beaches, there is a high level of tolerance here in this region.
First nudist hotel in Mallorca
In 2013, the first nudist hotel in Mallorca opened its doors to visitors. The 4-star hotel is called Hotel Sa Punta de s'Estanyol and is located in the northeast of the island. The right to wander au naturel is not only permitted in the hotel grounds, but also on the nearby nudist beach called Sa Canova, which can be reached after a short walk. It's 1.5 km long and has been a firm favourite with naturists for years.
While you can sun yourself, naked by the pool, you are only allowed to enter the restaurant and the small supermarket dressed in hygienic clothes. Among the highlights is a nude Sailing in Mallorca by Catamaran in Mallorca, which you can book directly on site. The double-hulled sailing boat sleeps six people. Clothes must be left behind in the hotel. Evening entertainment is provided at the seaside resort Colònia de San Pere, where you will find several restaurants and nightclubs.
