Mallorca - A dream for motorcyclists

The beautiful island of Mallorca is known for numerous parties, loud music and crowded beaches. However, the Balearic island has much more to offer. Besides a fabulous landscape of sea and mountains, vacationers can enjoy a wide variety of activities.

Boat tours, snorkeling or hot air balloon rides are promising highlights. For motorcyclists, the Mallorca vacation holds attractive routes ready, which are either in the interior of the country or lead directly along the coast. A wide mix of smaller local roads and wide overland routes awaits you.

Motorcycle tours on the west coast

Particularly exciting motorcycle routes, can be discovered on the west coast of Mallorca. On the mountain road between Andratx and Sóller and further to Port de Pollentia, you can expect grandiose curves for cruising and a promising landscape to enjoy.

The picturesque bay of Port d'Andratx and the beautiful marina as well as small cafes adorn this area. Furthermore, for bikers, the connecting roads that lead from the coast in the west directly to Palma are an absolute must. The roads lead from the towns of Valldemossa or Port de Sóller directly to the coveted capital.

You should definitely make a stop there and visit Palma Cathedral or Bellver Castle. If you fancy an amusement and adventure park, you can look forward to Katmandu Park, which is known for its magical illusions and special effects.

From Palma there are also two beautiful routes to ride a motorcycle. One tour leads to Sa Calobra, a breathtaking bay located in the Tramontana Mountains. Almost 800 curves lie ahead of you until you reach this place. This includes the famous "nudo de corbata" curve. The Ma-10 leads you to your destination. For motorcyclists this area is an absolute paradise.

The second tour takes you to Sineu. After about 111 kilometers, three and a half hours and many beautiful places, you will arrive at this unique place. There you should not miss a visit to the cave S'Avenc de Son Pou and the viewpoint Mirador d'en Banya. The castle Castillo de Alaró is also worth a visit.

The rugged north of the island

Cap Formentor is the northernmost point on Mallorca. Next to it, the peninsula of the same name extends as a so-called headland, north of Pollentia into the sea. Motorcycle tours in this area are accompanied by numerous viewpoints. Promising bays like Cala Pi or Cala Figuera are located there. Tip: Do not miss the lighthouse at the cape!

The coastal road is extremely winding and therefore alone an experience that you should not miss as a biker. But be careful, there are not only motorcyclists on this route, but also many slow-moving cars and tourist buses, which sometimes require risky overtaking maneuvers.

Furthermore, on this part of the island you will find the nature park S'Albufera and the cult site of Cala Torta. In general, motorcyclists can enjoy narrow and winding roads. Many of the smaller roads wind around small hilltops.

Discover Mallorca's south

From the Ma-1040, you can get directly to the sea. There, more exciting motorcycle routes are signposted, some of which go all the way around the island. It would be quite possible to go around the island within one day.

However, you should marvel at the natural landscape and the many sights on Mallorca and be sure to take your time. The Cala Murta on the south coast of the island is called the El Dorado for motorcyclists.

The region exudes a pleasant tranquility. The picturesque bay is separated by a forest, so you have to walk there on a footpath. The pebble beach usually has few bathers, which is a wonderful contrast to the otherwise bustling activity.

If you like to visit the Ses Salines, you can also do this in the south of Mallorca. There you can observe how salt production works on the island.

Motorcycle routes in the east

On the small area in the east all geographical characteristics can be discovered. Sandy beaches, mountains, valleys, rocky coves, small quaint villages as well as cities are located in this area. This region will enchant you with its diversity.

The eastern coastal mountains are a charming area for motorcyclists, but also for hikers and cyclists. Only in the east the contrasts between idyllic nature and lively tourism are so clearly visible. But also only here can both sides be so well complemented.

Many tourist resorts and attractions line up next to quiet coasts and wild bays. Central towns are Cala Ratjada and Cala Millor. If you love nightlife and want to visit full bars and restaurants, this is the place to be after a motorcycle tour.

Tip: The eastern region of Mallorca is the stronghold of pearl processing, a visit to the pearl factory Majorica is therefore recommended.

Rent a motorcycle

If you want to get to know the rugged hinterland, with its one or two climbs, but do not have your own motorcycle, you can of course rent a motorcycle on the island. On Mallorca you will find numerous motorcycle rentals, which lend motor scooters in addition to heavily motorized bikes.

They also offer guided tours with other motorcycle lovers. Very often the landlords of the stores are German expatriates who know the island very well. It is worthwhile to travel to Mallorca all year round.

However, the best time for motorcyclists is actually the off-season, because even in thick gear, the temperatures are then bearable. Moreover, at this time you will have no problem finding accommodation. So, the route can be flexibly adjusted.

Some hotels have specialized in Mallorca for motorcyclists. These owner-operated accommodations offer a storage space for your motorcycle, as well as rags, buckets and water.

Majorca vacation - From Germany to Malle

A tour from Germany to Mallorca is a true dream for many motorcyclists. It starts, for example, over the Brenner Pass in the direction of Genoa and on to the Riviera and from there to France. Monaco is passed, St. Tropez, Provence and the Camargue.

Beautiful places and nature experiences are waiting for you. If you want to start from Lake Constance, you can drive through Switzerland to Lake Geneva and then south through Languedoc. The third route would be via Stuttgart or Karlsruhe.

Down towards Freiburg and then on to France. At Montpellier all routes finally end up, there a detour to the Cevennes can be worthwhile. At the Spanish border, the route continues to Barcelona and from there by ferry to Palma. The journey time on the ferry is just under 6 to 7 hours. Important: Be at the check-in desk one hour before departure!

Riding a motorcycle - From the mainland to the island

From the mainland you can get to Mallorca by ferry. You can depart either from Barcelona, Valencia or Denia, to Palma or Alcudia. A large number of crossings are offered daily. From Barcelona, almost all ferries dock in the capital of Mallorca.

The trips can also be made overnight, so you can sleep during the trip. For this you book either a deck passage or a cabin. Depending on your needs and wishes. So, for example, you leave Barcelona at 11 pm and arrive in Palma at about 8 am and then you can start a sunny day.
